Getting Started

The Trail Finder is a comprehensive set of trail data, but it doesn't have to be difficult to navigate. If this is your first time here, check out this quick tutorial to get up to speed with the Trail Finder's interface. Then you'll be ready to virtually hit the trail!

Search

Start your search: The homepage gives you two ways to find a trail - either zoom around with the moveable map or type in your search criteria at the top. Both ways eventually give you a detailed look at each trail. Whichever search method you choose, you can always get back to the homepage by clicking the Trail Finder logo at the top left.

Map

Pan & Zoom the map: The map interface is slick and easy to use. Click and drag the map to pan. Double click to zoom or use the slider on the left. Choose from three different base maps - Street, Satellite, or Terrain - by clicking the buttons in the upper right hand corner of the map. On the map, trails are color coded to denote use, special markers are displayed for each waypoint, and there is a legend to help you decipher them all.

Details

The details: Each trail has its own dedicated page just full of information. You'll find out how to get to the trail, how long it is, and what kind of surface it has. A full list of the trail's managers and stewards is given, afterall, the trail wouldn't be there without them! You also have a chance to share your comments and photos - we want to hear from you!
